Staff dont know how to use it

In my area (large metro city), at night when theyre running the drive thru on one window they dont have scanners to scan the deal codes. Their solution is for you to give them your phone so they can walk it across the store on slippery floors to a counter register, while you hope and pray they dont drop it. I know they should be able to just enter the four-character code manually, but apparently they arent training anyone to do that.
